Today I'd like to feature my son Ruari. He's very talented (proud father!).He beat-boxes and whistles on this track.
Ruari took up beat-boxing at an early age after he fell out of a tree and damaged his teeth meaning he had to give up on the trombone. His teeth are fine now but he was in and out of dentists for years getting them sorted out.I have some great recordings of him beat-boxing when he was around ten or eleven. He used to practise in the shower and in fact every where else he went. The great thing about beat-boxing is you always have your instrument with you. The photo on the right is of him supporting the Red Hot Chilli Pipers at the ABC in Glasgow during Celtic Connections festival.
Ruari has more than one string to his bow though. Alongside his music he's studying at Strathclyde at the moment and doing extremely well.
This track also features the five string banjo playing of Deborah Arnott from the Edinburgh crossover country band Blueflint who's album I produced for release last year.
